Complete or total distillation of ylang-ylang takes around 24 hours and is the preferred distillation method for aromatherapy. Sweet-smelling ylang-ylang flowers produce a heady, even intoxicating essential oil once cut, as in their natural state they are odorless. The name means ‘flower of flowers’.
